PUPILS VISITED THE NETHERLANDSÅkrahäll offers all high school students the opportunity to go on an exchange trip through the Erasmus project. Last week some of our students and teachers were in the Netherlands to visit a partner school in the city of Roermond.On Monday, the students arrived in the Netherlands after spending a full day in Düsseldorf doing some sightseeing and shopping. Tuesday was a day of getting-to-know-you exercises with typical Dutch games, including tug-of-war and sack races.On Wednesday, there was a debate in the City Hall, where students were assigned political topics to debate against each other. They also went to The Movement where they participated in dance, drama and film classes. Finally, they visited the Turkish mosque where they were given a tour and guided through how they work with integration to create community.On Thursday, the students worked on their assignments, which they later presented at the cultural evening, where they were also treated to homemade Dutch coffee provided by the host pupils.Friday finally became a full day in Amsterdam! The day began at the Rijksmuseum with a tour of several world-famous works by Rembrandt and others. The students were then given free time to experience the city in the way they wanted. Several of them got to experience the world-famous Red Light District, for example.Finally, Saturday was a family day when the students spent the whole day on an excursion with their host family, often in groups of several families. Yesterday, Sunday, it was time to go home after an eventful, exciting and very rewarding programme.
