SECOND PROJECT EXCHANGE IN NYBRO, SWEDEN (10.10.22-16.10.22)

Hello friends,
Between 10.10.22 and 16.10.22 the second exchange of our project took place in Sweden. The host this time was Åkrahällskolan, Nybro, Sweden. The long wait and the impatience of the participants from all countries was worth it, because the experience and the experience gathered were unforgettable for everyone! Here is how this interesting week went through the eyes of the participants:

DAY 1

On the first day we gathered at the school at 08:35 where we had a short introduction of what our schedule for the following days here will include. We got instructions for the assignment given and we were divided into 8 groups. We then had a snack, the typical Swedish ‘fika’, after which we had a long walk around the school and its facilities. We then had a delicious lunch at the canteen and we proceeded with a walk to the theater, where we were given a lecture by the anti-bullying organization ‘Friends’, about cyber-bullying. Our day was free afterwards, so we spent the afternoon on small groups with our partners. In the evening, they took us to watch a hockey match in Kalmar, where the Nybro team played, and specifically, one of our friends and partners. It was our first hockey match ever, so all of us were excited and cheered for the team! We had a wonderful and memorable first day!

DAY 2

On the second day we got up really early and had breakfast with our host families. Then we went to the school in Nybro, where we met everyone participating in the project. We travelled to Växjö by bus🚌. There we had a lecture by a university professor about social media. After the lecture we had fika! and went on a walk around the university campus. We went to the Teleborg castle, which is a hotel nowadays. We also had free time to explore the city. It was really beautiful. On our journey back to Nybro we were able to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Then we had some time to rest and had a taco evening, which our Swedish partners had prepared for us. We rolled our own tacos🌮 and they were extremely delicious. We also watched the hockey game, which was won by Nybro’s team. It was a memorable day!

DAY 3

It was a long and interesting day. We got up at 6.30 a.m. and we had to be ready to work on our assignments at 8 o’clock. Each group had to make a short video about a different topic, for example stalking, catfishing, trolling and etc. We had lunch at school and then , when we were ready with the assignments, we could go with our partners to their lessons.

At 4.30p.m. we had a cultural evening, where we tried a typical meal, called smörgåstårta. It was very delicious and funny because we talked about different topics, danced a lot and played games.

DAY 4

On Friday the students did a lot of activities. First in the morning they went to school and presented the video projects they had prepared on the different topics related to social media. After that they had a little time in Nybro and then caught the train to the city of Kalmar. After a short trip the group arrived at the station in Kalmar and went off to the castle. We had a look around and then a very interesting tour guide told us about the history and depicted the secrets of the medieval castle. After that the partners had some free time in the city where they walked around the centre and saw the beautiful seaside. After that the group caught the train back and had dinner in Nybro. Next, was a visit to the home of the Nybro Vikings to watch a hockey game which the Vikings won 3-0 and the home crowd was very pleased. After the game everybody was quite tired so they all headed back and slept well to prepare for the last day in Sweden.
